New Grant Opportunity for Local & Tribal Health Departments in Montana

MTPHI is excited to announce a new funding opportunity to support community engagement and capacity enhancing initiatives for local and tribal health departments in Montana. These grants are designed to strengthen infrastructure, foster partnerships, and enhance responsiveness to community needs.

Community Engagement Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Health departments may request up to $1,500 per award paid directly to vendors (unless otherwise requested). Health departments are eligible to divide this into multiple requests through June 30, 2025. Learn more & apply here: Community Engagement Grants

Capacity Enhancing Grant applications will be accepted on a quarterly basis. For this quarter, the application window is October 1-22, 2025. The next round will open in January 2026. Montana 21C has spent the past few months advancing the workforce census and survey and listening to stakeholders including Montana’s three public and environmental health associations. There are two new upcoming opportunities to engage with Montana 21C: Strengthening Public Health Together, and local and tribal voices are needed to provide valuable input and guidance for these next steps. Each of these groups will meet monthly to address these priorities. 

Communications Subgroup 

• First meeting: October 14th at 2pm

• Focus: Messaging Montana 21C effectively, reviewing the communications plan, and developing a roadmap.

• Participants: Open to all interested local and tribal public health staff

Environmental Health Subgroup

• First meeting: October 20th at 2pm

• Focus: Addressing current and emerging environmental health issues, strengthening collaboration with public health, and exploring strategies to recruit and retain sanitarians.

• Participants: Local health officials, sanitarians, environmental health staff, university staff, and state agency staff. MEHA members are especially encouraged to join.
