Every three years, in collaboration with partners, Montana DPHHS conducts a public health workforce assessment in order to understand and develop workforce trainings and supports based on those assessment results. This year, the workforce development and assessment efforts were incorporated under the umbrella of Montana 21C and includes an individual workforce assessment survey and a department-wide local and tribal public health workforce census. The individual workforce assessment survey will be open through August 10th. The survey is anonymous and is an opportunity to reflect on workforce needs, identify local training priorities, and help shape how statewide resources and supports are developed. Look for the survey link in your inbox and if you have questions, please reach out to HHSPHSDBuildingHealthySystems@mt.gov The local and tribal public health workforce census serves as a compliment to the individual-level workforce survey and aims to gather detailed Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) data to better understand the current public health staffing landscape across Montana and support ongoing conversations around workforce development and sustainability. This tool is being completed by health department leadership and the data collection process is taking place now through the fall.
