2025-2026 Behavioral Health Training Institute

The National Council for Mental Wellbeing is pleased to announce the 2025-2026 Behavioral Health Training Institute (BHTI) for Health Officials.

Through a Request for Applications (RFA) process, up to 20 public health and behavioral health officials will be selected to participate in the 11th cohort of this six-month professional development initiative. Selected health officials will gain direct access to training and technical assistance opportunities on behavioral health topics, including but not limited to:

• Building and/or enhancing cross-sector partnerships between public health and behavioral health systems.

• Building and/or enhancing trauma- and resilience-focused mental health and substance use supports and recovery-oriented systems of care.

• Recruiting, developing, and retaining a qualified, trauma-informed workforce.

• Addressing and integrating mental wellbeing into public health settings and cultivating mental health resiliency.

• Implementing evidence-based and/or evidence-informed behavioral health interventions.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:59pm ET. Selected applicants will be notified on the week of December 8, 2025.

Each year, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health and its partners set aside the third Thursday of November to celebrate National Rural Health Day (NRHD). NRHD is an opportunity to celebrate the power of rural through awareness, contests, awards, and other activities.

Nearly 60 million people live and work in rural America. It is a great place to live and work, however, it produces unique health care challenges. NRHD helps educate about these challenges and highlights the innovation and collaboration used by health care providers to improve quality of care.

The Montana Office of Rural Health (MORH) and Area Health Education Center (AHEC) have a variety of activities planned for NRHD 2025 - check out their website to learn more and get involved!

Funding Opportunities

MTPHI’s Community Engagement Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Health departments may request up to $1,500 per award paid directly to vendors (unless otherwise requested). Health departments are eligible to divide this into multiple requests through June 30, 2025. Learn more & apply here: Community Engagement Grants
