Grant Opportunities

MTPHI is committed to ensuring that every local and tribal health department in Montana has equitable access to funding. We recognize that capacity, staffing, and administrative processes vary widely across departments. To address this, we have intentionally designed these funding opportunities to be low-barrier and supportive, so that no health department is excluded because of size, resources, or administrative complexity. MTPHI staff are available to provide technical assistance and support to health departments interested in applying for these grant opportunities. If you have questions or would like to request support, please contact grants@mtphi.org.

Community Engagement Grants

Community engagement is a vital component to the success of public health. In an effort to overcome common barriers to meaningful community engagement, MTPHI will provide funding for local and tribal health departments community engagement activities. For this funding category, health departments may request up to $1,500 per award (multiple requests may be made in the year, as long as the total does not exceed $1,500). Funding will be issued as direct vendor payments unless otherwise requested.

Capacity Enhancing Grants

Projects must enhance organizational capacity for local or tribal health departments. Priority will be given to projects that address a Foundational Public Health Service (FPHS) area and have been identified as a community or organizational need.

For this funding category, health departments may request up to $15,000 (health departments are eligible for one project per year).
